Day 1 Nairobi to Maasai Mara

After breakfast at your city hotel in Nairobi, set out on a scenic drive down the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley en route to the iconic Maasai Mara National Reserve. Pause at a panoramic viewpoint to take in sweeping vistas of this vast geological formation, a landscape so immense it is said to be visible from space. Continue onward, arriving at your camp in time for lunch.

In the afternoon, venture into the reserve for your first game drive. Sharing an unfenced boundary with Serengeti National Park, the Mara forms part of a greater ecosystem and serves as a crucial corridor for the world-famous wildebeest migration. Along the banks of the Mara River, hippos and crocodiles gather in large numbers, while the open plains provide outstanding opportunities to spot predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards.

As the sun sets, return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Afterwards, return to camp for a hearty breakfast.

Later in the morning, you may choose to visit a nearby Maasai village (optional, at an additional cost) for an authentic cultural experience and insight into traditional Maasai life. Return to camp for lunch and some relaxation before heading out again in the afternoon.

Your afternoon game drive takes you across sweeping grasslands scattered with acacia trees, where herds of elephants, zebras, gazelles, and other plains wildlife roam freely. As evening approaches, return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
